Jackson Peterson, Pittsfield Suns, University of Pennsylvania

38 for 132 | .288 BA | 9 2B | 0 3B | 8 HR | 24 R | 38 RBI

Jackson Petersen has emerged as one of the best offensive players in the FCBL this season. Hailing from Libertyville, Illinois, the 2019 Futures League All Star Game MVP sports a .288 batting average while he leads the league in RBIs with 38 and is tied for the lead in home runs with 8. He supplies the middle of the Suns lineup with power and productivity and is one of the main reasons for the Suns’ success thus far.    

 

Sean Lawlor, North Shore Navigators, Flagler College

61 for 174 | .351 BA | 15 2B | 3 3B | 7 HR | 40 R | 38 RBI 

North Shore’s Sean Lawlor has proved himself to be one of the best overall players in the league this season. The outfielder from Boca Raton, Florida is 3rd in the league in batting average as he is hitting .351 and leads the league in hits (61) and is tied for the league lead in RBIs (38) through 46 games played. He is a standout player in a stacked Navigators lineup and will continue to be a vital part of the team heading into the tail end of the season and playoffs.  

 

Brandon Miller, Bristol Blues, St. Johns University

58 for 167 | .347 BA | 8 2B | 1 3B | 5 HR | 29 R | 33 RBI

Easton, Pennsylvania’s Brandon Miller has been outstanding in the Bristol Blues lineup this season. He has been at or near the top in batting average for the entire season and currently ranks 4th in the league with his .347 average. He also ranks 2nd in hits with 58 and 4th in RBIs with 33. Miller leads the Blues in almost every offensive category and continues to be consistent. He is a massive part of that Blues offense and his ability to hit for both power and average will be critical in Bristol’s playoff push.

 

Thomas Joyce, Westfield, Merrimack College

50 for 135 | .370 BA | 13 2B | 0 3B | 4 HR | 26 R | 23 RBI

Thomas Joyce of the Westfield Starfires is a no-brainer for MVP finalist. He has been one of the most consistent players in the league and shines in the Starfires’ lineup. The Newton, Massachusetts native’s .370 batting average leads the league by a good chunk and is tied for 5th in the league in hits with 50 in 42 games played. His best performance came on July 14th in a game against Brockton where he went 2 for 4 with three runs scored, a home run, and two RBIs. Although the Starfires will not be playing in the postseason, Joyce is a extremely positive takeaway from their first season in the league.    

 

Mark Coley, Pittsfield Suns, University of Rhode Island

49 for 150 | .327 BA | 15 2B | 3 3B | 7 HR | 38 R | 29 RBI

Mark Coley of Bloomfield, Connecticut has been a standout player in this league since the very beginning of the season. His .327 batting average ranks 8th in the league showing his consistency at the plate. He also ranks 4th in the league in runs scored with 38 and tied for 7th in hits with 49. Coley is a great overall hitter as he can also hit for power. He is tied for 2nd in the league with 7 home runs and tied for 6th in RBIs with 29 in 42 games played. He has proven himself to be one of the best players in the league and has earned himself a spot as an MVP finalist. 

 

 

Austin White, Bristol Blues, University of Rhode Island

49 for 164 | .299 BA | 7 2B | 6 3B | 1 HR | 47 R | 23 RBI

Austin White is one of two Bristol Blues players being considered for the MVP award. The extremely talented outfielder from Glastonbury, Connecticut has had an amazing regular season for the Blues. He leads the league in runs scored with 47 in 45 games played proving to be extremely valuable on the base paths. You can’t score runs if you don’t get on base and White has proven himself in that regard as well posting a .299 batting average and .463 on-base percentage which is 2nd in the league. On top of that, White leads the league in triples with 6. His mix of speed and offensive talent is extremely valuable to his team and he has been and will be a vital part of the Blues lineup going forward. 

 
 

 

 

Pitcher of the Year Finalists

 

Angelo Baez, Worcester Bravehearts, St. Thomas Aquinas

Residing from the Bronx, Angelo Baez has been part of a ridiculous Worcester Bravehearts rotation this season, but has also been holding down the Bravehearts bullpen. In 13 games this season, Baez has started 7 and appeared in 6 games out of the pen. In his starts, 4-1 with 28 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 12 BB and 47 K. Out of the pen, Baez is 10 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 14 K and 2 saves. Baez leads the league in ERA at 1.67 is also top 7 in the league in BAA with opponents hitting .199 against him. Baez also has 4 Pitcher of the Night and 1 Pitcher of the Week awards.  

 

Beau Dana, North Shore Navigators, Dickinson College

18.1 IP 1.47 ERA 14 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 6 BB, 30 K, 13 SV

Beau Dana, from Marblehead, MA, has been the definition of a closer for the Navigators this season. Among the most feared in the league, Dana’s stats out of the pen have been electric. In 17 appearances and 18 innings, he has given up just 14 H, 3 ER, 6 BB with 30 strikeouts! The most impressive of those stats may be the saves as Dana has 13 saves, which tied a team record set in 2015 and opponents are hitting just .209 against Dana and he has a 1.47 ERA.

 

Shawn Babineau, Worcester Bravehearts, Springfield College 

5-0 2.51 ERA 43 IP 30 H 15 R 12 ER 9 BB 49 K

Shawn Babineau, an Ashland, MA native, has been the man this year for the Bravehearts. He is also part of the dominant Worcester staff and was the All-Star Starter for the Hillies in the 2019 Futures League All Star game. Babineau this season is 5-0 in 43 IP with 30 H 12 ER and 49 strikeouts, which is top 5 in the league! He is top 4 in the league in both ERA at 2.51 and BAA which is at .189. He has also won Pitcher of the Night three times and Pitcher of the Week twice.  

 

Nick Sinacola, Brockton Rox, University of Maine

2-0 2.61 ERA 43 IP 32 H 16 R 14 ER 21 BB 69 K

Brockton’s ace this year has no doubt lived up to the ace tag. A North Attleboro native, Sinacola was the starter for the Electrics in the 2019 All Star game and in 9 games this season, all starts, he has a 2-0 record with 32 H, 14 ER and 21 walks allowed with 69 strikeouts, which is 2nd in the league. He is top 5 in BAA at .199 and top 10 in ERA at 2.93. Sinacola has won Pitcher of the Night three times and Pitcher of the Week once for the Rox.  

 

Matt Svanson, Brockton Rox, Lehigh University

9 G 5 GS 3-1, 1.70 ERA, 42.1, 27 H, 11 R, 8 ER, 14 BB, 45 K, 1 SV

Another rock on the Rox staff has been Matt Svanson, all the way from Hawthorn Woods, Illinois. He has both started and appeared out of the bullpen. In his starts, he is 0-1 in 27 IP and 5 starts with 16 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 8 BB, 28 K. Out of the pen, he has 4 APP with 15 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 6 BB, 17 K. He is 2nd in the league in ERA at 1.70 and 2nd in the league in BAA at .175. Svanson has been awarded Pitcher of the Night twice.  

 

Jack Fox, Westfield StarfiresEmerson College

11 G, 9 GS, 2-6,1 CG, 61.2, 56 H, 28 R, 19 ER, 14 BB, 74 K

In their inaugural season, the Westfield Starfires leaned on Los Angeles, CA native and Emerson College’s Jack Fox, who has been dominant for them this year.  Despite the record, Fox’s numbers have been impressive, especially the strikeouts. In his starts he is 2-6 in 9 starts with 57.2 IP, 52 H, 26 R, 18 ER, 13 BB, 72 K.  Out of the pen, he went 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 BB and 2 K. On July 29th, Fox broke the single season record for strikeouts in a season with his 74, a record that was set at 72 in 2015.  Fox also leads the league in innings at 61.2, is top 10 in ERA at 2.77 and BAA at .230.  

 

Eric ChavarriaWorcester Bravehearts, Cypress College

3-1 2.46 ERA 40.1 IP 24 H 11 R 11 ER11 BB 56 K

Coming all the way from Bellflower, California, Eric Chavarria is also part of the dominant staff for the Bravehearts. Chavarria, in 7 games this year, in which he started all, has 40.1 IP with 24 H, 11 ER, 11 BB and 56 Ks. Chavarria is top 5 in ERA at 2.46, top 5 in Ks, and is the league leader in BAA at .146. Chavarria has also won 3 Pitcher of the Night and 1 Pitcher of the Week awards.
