Futures League to Host 2022 Adam Keenan Weekend

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (June 9, 2022) -- Throughout this weekend, the Futures League is proud to host its annual weekend honoring the memory of a special member of our family, Adam Keenan.

Adam played baseball at Franklin Pierce University and UMass Lowell and was a member of the FCBL’s Seacoast Mavericks during the league’s inaugural 2011 season. Eleven years ago this week, on June 6, 2011, Adam passed away suddenly after suffering a rare, undiagnosed heart condition known as Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy, or ARVC.

Adam was an amazing individual who exhibited sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and passion for the game of baseball, and his legacy lives on through the Adam Keenan Foundation and the Adam Keenan Sportsmanship and Scholarship Award that the league gives out at the end of each season.

For the first time in 2022, the Futures League is also proud to unveil a special alternate logo featuring a silhouette of Adam Keenan during his playing career. Limited edition merchandise with the Keenan logo is available for purchase here.

Based in the Merrimack Valley, the Adam Keenan Foundation was founded in 2015 with a mission of ensuring that athletic facilities and public spaces have an AED available.

The foundation is accepting donations at ballparks throughout the Futures League during this special Adam Keenan Weekend and over the next week.

The Keenan Family was honored during a June 4 pre-game ceremony at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H., with Adam's father, Michael, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
